Aakriti is a group of vibrant and versatile dancers led by danseuse, Urmi Samadar. Aakriti creates compelling productions by integrating the energy and passion of Kathak, grace and lilting charm of Odissi, the spirit and splendor or Bharatanatyam and other Indian dance forms. While Aakriti continues to endorse the rich traditions of Indian classical dances, it thrives on adding eclectic and contemporary flavors to its productions. All Aakriti dancers are trained rigorously in one or two distinct forms of Indian classical dances. Several dancers have also attended western dance workshops and courses to strengthen their comprehensive dance skills. The committed team comprising students, educationists, and professionals share a unique bond of passion for the arts. Urmi and her troupe have performed in prestigious conferences, educational and social causes in the Northeast regions of US and Canada.
